Youth Football Experience

On April 10, 2007 sixty boys and 56 girls (the school's complete enrollment) from the Link Community School of Newark were treated to an afternoon of athletic challenge and inspirational "nugget" character messages from members of the New York Giants at the Athletes in Action Youth Football Experience. With help from 10 special sponsors (spearheaded by Pete Grandich of Trinity Financial) , the boys took part in football skill activities and then paused between the activities to listen as one of the participating Giants players emphasized the importance of choosing friends carefully, perseverance, goal-setting, and honesty. The young ladies received tennis instructions from Doug Goulding (former tennis coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University and his staff) and also enjoyed listening to Doug share some life lessons during break times. Giants players who participated included: Shawn O'Hara, James Butler, Ryan Grant, Jared Lorenzen, Eli Manning, Guy Whimper, Rich Seubert, Tim Hasselbeck, Justin Tuck, Chase Blackburn, James Simms, Darcy Johnson, Jason Randall, and Charles Way.
